#551 new defect

I-Search Yank Word doesn't work with Reverse Incremental Search

Reported by: Kristian Bredin Owned by:
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: IDE Version: 1.3

Description

If one puts the insertion point to the left of a word that contains a hyphen, then Reverse Incremental Search (control-r) + I-Search Yank Word (control-w) only copies the part of the word that is to the left of the hyphen. The next control-w adds a duplicate to the search string.

For instance: foo-bar -> foo, after first control-w and foofoo after the second control-w.

Control-s + control-w works as expected though.

This would generally be a minor problem, but at present, because of a more serious problem described in ticket 550 (http://trac.clozure.com/openmcl/ticket/550) the only way I can think of to find the most recent definition of a function, is to add the name to the search string and search the buffer from the end.

It is, of course, possible to first hit control-s, then control-w the required number of times, then click at the end of the buffer and finally hit control-r. But it raises my blood pressure a bit every single time.

So at present, it's a real problem. Later (if ticket 550 is resolved) it would just be a minor inconvenience.
