add regular expressions to search files dialog. Requested by funder. Split out from bug #108.

The search files dialog is currently based on grep. The "Find" string is a regular expression that is passed to grep.

Note that since the find string is a regular expression, searching for strings that contain regular expression metacharacters (like asterisks) can have surprising results.

I think that this means that we want some sort of control indicating whether or not the string should be treated as a fixed search string (grep -F) or not.
