For reasons that aren't yet known, the call to CLEAR-IOBLOCK-STREAMS
in SAVE-IMAGE seems to lead to memory corruption, at least on linuxppc32.
(Maybe this has to do with the new allegedly-thread-safe CLOSE protocol;
maybe it's totally unrelated.)
For now, conditionalize that call out on PPC.
