Trac sometimes logs users out inexplicably

I just spent half an hour writing a detailed bug report. When I clicked "preview", the website told me I didn't have write permissions because I wasn't logged in. I had logged in earlier, but my login somehow timed out because of dubious "security" settings. Now the form is reset and my bug report is lost.

I'm pissed.

Can you fix your interface so that it (1) won't log me out so fast, and (2) won't drop my painfully written bug report.

I've had this problem too, and it is indeed very annoying. I'm not sure how fixable it is, though.

I'm sorry to hear that something ate your bug report.

I know next to nothing about how Trac does login session management. I hardly know where to start looking for what the problem might be. We certainly haven't configured any explicit session timeout (ridiculously short or otherwise); I myself successfully remain logged in for days at a time.

Searching old Trac tickets turns up some reports ( http://trac.edgewall.org/ticket/6121, for instance) that seem to describe similar-sounding symptoms, but these are using HTTP basic auth. We use the account manager plug-in ( http://trac-hacks.org/wiki/AccountManagerPlugin), so those tickets are probably not relevant to our set-up.
